Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for executing derivative trades for a large variable annuity portfolio as well as other risk management programs. Incumbent will build relationships with dealers and articulate the impact of hedging strategies in the market. This position reports to the Head of Trading of Columbia Management Investment Advisers, LLC.
Accountabilities:
- Execute equity and interest rate hedges, going to market with a disciplined approach and in compliance with internal and external guidelines and best practices.
- Manage relationships with Dealers to ensure appropriate infrastructure for the relationship, as well as checking for accuracy and timeliness of attestations of value.
- Explain daily business results of investment actions for products reliant on owned assets portfolios, including the vanilla option book
- As a provider of trading services, develop a framework for communicating to product and portfolio owners the impact of basket options in portfolios
- Prepare briefings and incorporate trends and perspectives into timely and actionable recommendations for the Finance team, based on your observations of the market.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years experience with equity index option market, including exposure to basket options and variance swaps;
- Experience trading for an Insurance group preferred
- Preferred degree in quantitative-related discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Engineering or Physics;
- Evidence of analytical skills needed to create robust recommendations for technical strategies using financial instruments;
- Communication skills to articulate recommended strategies to Finance professionals, ensuring full understanding of implications and risk;
- Relationship-building skills that engender productive and appropriate interactions with dealers, Ameriprise staff groups, Finance and investment management.
- Professional trading certifications preferred, such as Chartered Market Technician.
